BlueSecure Controller Setup and Configuration Course

The Bluesocket BlueSecure Controller Setup and Configuration course is designed for network administrators, systems engineers and technical support engineers who are interested in learning how to secure and manage wireless LANs using the Bluesocket BlueSecure Controller.

The course provides lectures and hands-on lab exercises on the following topics:

  • An overview of Radio Frequency (RF) fundamentals.
  • An overview of wireless LAN security and management issues.
  • An overview of the complete Bluesocket product line and
    BlueSecure features and functions.
  • The configuration and management of a single BlueSecure
    Controller and multiple BlueSecure Controllers.
  • The integration of a BlueSecure Controller into a new network
    or an existing network.
  • The configuration and management of third party access points and BlueSecure Access Points.
  • The use of role-based authorizations to enforce network access policies.
  • The use of authentication for identity verification and
    role-based assignment of authorizations.
  • The use of Configuration Replication to provide centralized
    configuration management of two or more BlueSecure Controllers.
  • The use of Secure Mobility to provide active roaming across IP subnets while maintaining network connectivity.
  • The use of Failover to provide high availability network
    access by configuring one BlueSecure Controller as an active device and a second BlueSecure Controller as a standby device.
  • An overview of the BlueView Management System (BVMS).

Course Requisites

Students are expected to be familiar with the following:

  • Network hubs and switches including layer 2 VLANs.
  • TCP/IP routers and firewalls including static routes and access control lists.
  • Windows XP Professional networking functionality including DHCP, IPSec and wireless card configuration and management.
  • Windows 2000/2003 Server authentication functionality including DHCP, DNS, Active Directory/LDAP and RADIUS.

What to Bring
Each student should bring a wireless ready laptop computer to the class.
